Sick Day and Homework

The boys all had a stomach bug (both littles were throwing up and all three had diahrrea) yesterday and spent the day at home.

Most of the day was spent sleeping.

In the evening they were starting to feel better and were getting restless. So we pulled out some of our homeschool supplies. Pudge practiced his letters and Little Bear did his spelling words and other random words with plastic letters. Then we played word and picture memory (one card has the word written out and the match is the picture of that word) which is fun because Little Bear has to read the words and Pudge is supposed to tell us the pictures when they flip them. Pequeño slept through the fun.

They watched a Leap Frog episode about the letters and their sounds and then played with playdoh for a while before going to bed early for the night.

Everyone woke up feeling back to normal this morning!

Mother's Day

We spent Mother's Day as a family and it was amazing. We first went to breakfast at our favorite diner. Then we went home to get changed and ready for our day out! We went for a hike at the local game preserve and the kids (and we) had so much fun.

(Don't worry, Pequeño had a ton of time to run around too!)

We made sure to bring along Little Bear's fishing net, fishing pants, and life jackets do that the kids could wade in the creek and catch fish. We also did a lot of stone skipping which was hilarious. Pudge would get so excited every time that he threw a stone (even if it didn't skip) and would yell "I did it!". After a while Pequeñi started to say "did it!" after he would throw them as well. Papa and Little Bear set out to try to catch a fish in the net.
They got a strand of frog eggs stuck on them and brought it over to show us.
They also caught and quickly released tiny fish.
We spent most of our time splashing sound in the creek (with me wishing that I owned sandals!) and having fun. I can't remember when I've heard the kids all laughing for so long. They thought every skip or splash or tiny fish that swam by was so exciting that we knew that we have to come back often.
Once the kids were getting tired, we changed the little kids clothes and jaded back toward the car. Pudge had gotten a cut on his hand from a stone and insisted that it needed a bandaid (it wasn't bleeding at all) so we stopped to clean and bandage it. The older two spent the whole walk back talking about the creek and going fishing next time. Pequeño ended up falling asleep on the walk back (I purposely had him facing me so that he would).
Before we left, the kids wanted to check out the local species of fish and snakes.
On the way out, we saw the Bison and Elk.
We decided to go to the zoo for a little while before it closed. On the way in, a small fox started running towards our car so we had to stop. Then it ran under our car so we had to wait until the car behind us let us know that it had run out. It was really neat to see one that close!
Once we got to the zoo, it wasn't too busy and we were able to get right in. The kids had a blast telling Papa about all of the animals (it was his first time going with us)(*AND he even admitted that he was happy that we have the membership there.) Pudge slept in the stroller the entire time but Little Bear and Pequeño were really excited to see the animals. It was feeding time for the penguins (which we had never watched before).
After we left the zoo, we went home to change and decide what we wanted to do for dinner. We ended up voting on a Mexican restaurant that was amazing! Not only was everything delicious (the kids are everything from appetizers to dessert) but we all also have leftovers. All of the kids fell asleep on the way home but woke up once it was time to get out of the car. So we sat and played on our back deck until it was their bedtime.

I am so blessed to have my three little boys. They're each so different and so full of their own personalities but they're still the best of friends and I love watching them grow and play together.

Bubble popping

It was a loud morning around here since the kids got to spend it popping all of the bubble packaging that we've recently received so that we could fit them in our recycling bin. The older two had a great time dancing and jumping on them (and continued to jump on them long after all had been popped) and Pequeño ran around laughing. He tried to pop a few of them but he can't jump and wasn't heavy enough to pop them so he ran around on the already popped ones instead.

Little Bear's Art and Book Fair

Little Bear's school had an art fair and book fair tonight. Two of Little Bear's art projects were hanging (a portrait of him waddling like a penguin with a drawing of a penguin and an African necklace craft). After we checked out the art fair, we went to the book fair where the kids were able to buy one book and if they wanted anything else they had to buy it. Little Bear picked a journal, a shark book, and an eraser shaped like money. He wanted a bundle of Geronimo books but it was $60 and we had almost half of the books in the bundle so we didn't buy it. Pudge got a My Little Pony Book which came with one of the horses which he has been calling Pinky Pie (I'm not sure if that is it's actual name or not). Afterwards, they sat outside the school and checked out their new books for a little bit before we headed home.

Jelly Bean Town

The younger kids and I went to a playgroup this morning at a place called Jelly Bean Town USA in Nazereth, PA. It was a ton of fun and we'll definitely be going again. It reminded me a lot of Timmy's Towne Center that we used to go to when we lived near Scranton, Pa. There were a ton of different activities for the kids to play whatever they wanted such as a kitchen with all of the supplies, a tool area, reading area, craft section, dress up/costume area, train table full of trains, chalkboard wall, etc. Both Pudge and Pequeño had a blast running around the place and trying everything out with their little friends. The place was open only to our playgroup this morning so it was all kids (and moms) that we knew which was great because while the kids played, I got to catch up with some of my favorite friends. Little Bear would have really liked it so I'm sure that we'll be going back another day with all of the kids. They also have classes which I'm going to look into as well.
The owner even made a craft with the kids and Pudge made me a tissue paper flower which is so cute!

A Day at the Zoo

Yesterday was a beautiful day so the kids and I went to the zoo. Papa had to work so we are planning to go again with him soon. Before leaving the house, the kids posed for a picture (Pequeño has been requesting having his picture taken and will stand still and say "cheeeeeeese").
We spent a little over 3 hours at the zoo and still hadn't checked out all of the animals. But my back was really bothering me (I've been having issues with it lately) and the kids were willing to go after having eaten. While we were there, all of the kids had a great time. The older two made themselves bracelets. Little Bear made his black and white (like a penguin) and Pudge wanted all different colors (He strung some of the beads but mostly told me which color to use). While we made the bracelets, Pequeño watched the penguins.
Then we walked to see the otters. On the way there, we stopped to look at a striped skunk (Little Bear told us that it must have it's stink bag removed.) and a porcupine (where he told Pudge not to get too close because he could get hurt).
They were all excited to see the farm animals. They got to feed and pet goats, "milk" a cow, and ride pedal tractors.
Then we took a break at the playground.
And had a snack (which we brought).
Next they fed fish and watched ducks, swans, and turtles. (Pequeño was napping at this point.)
Then we walked around a little to let Peaueño sleep and look at the other animals.
When Pequeño woke up , we headed back to where the kangaroos were. Since you are able to go into the area where the kangaroos are (with the guide), I had wanted to wait until Pequeñk was awake. The kids were so excited even though they have done this before. Little Bear was telling us kangaroo factswhile we waited for our turn to go in. All three smiled the entire time that we were in there.
Then (at Pudge's request) we went to see the wolves.
Do you see the wolf right in front of Little Bear? It's camouflaged pretty well with the rocks!
This was going to be our last stop but on our way to grab a snack before leaving we stopped and saw the birds of prey, a teepee (the kids got to check out the inside), and a peacock that walks around the zoo.

The kids all fell asleep on the ride home and took a long nap once we got home. As soon as Papa got home they were running to tell him all about their day.
